Julie joined the Lifecycle team in 2011. She has been providing care to families since accepting her first midwifery position at Hahnemann University Hospital in 1988. She loved science from an early age and was drawn to health care as a profession early on. She earned a bachelor of fine arts at Brown University before completing her midwifery degree at Yale.
Julie enjoyed caring for families in neighborhood clinics and working with patients from diverse communities. Following her tenure at Hahnemann, she joined the midwives at Pennsylvania Hospital, spending most of her years there leading the practice. After a career of leadership that spanned 14 years, Julie accepted a position as the Director of Women’s Health at Greater Philadelphia Health Action in 2004. While there, she established one of the first Centering Pregnancy programs in the city.
In 2011, Julie brought her repertoire of clinical skills to Lifecycle and took on the role of Clinical Director in 2013 while continuing to provide direct midwifery care to our clients.
Aside from her busy clinical life, Julie has also been an active member of the local chapter of the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM) including serving as Co-Chair and acting as a legislative liaison for the Pennsylvania affiliate of ACNM.
Julie loves the natural world and is an avid birder. She continues to expand her expertise of the woods and wildlife in local parks and gardens as well as in her travels with her husband, TL, and her sons, Sam and Ray. She is also well-known in West Philly for her incredible annual Halloween porch display.
