Lifecycle WomanCare (LWC) is pleased to introduce Kate McHugh as our new Interim Executive Director.
Selected by LWC Leadership and the Board of Directors, Kate will serve in this crucial position. Kate comes to LWC with an extensive background in clinical midwifery, education, and global health outreach. She has over three decades of expertise in maternal, newborn, and reproductive health care.
She previously served as the Director of Global Outreach with the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) as well as ACNM’s Interim Chief Executive Officer. Currently, she serves as a consultant on global health projects related to the midwifery and nursing workforce, and integration of community-based care with formal health systems, among other related initiatives.
Additionally, Kate has held teaching positions at Georgetown University, the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, Philadelphia University, and Yale University, as well as leadership roles at the Institute of Midwifery, and the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing.
Her appointment at LWC represents a homecoming of sorts. Kate was a Nurse-Midwife at The Birth Center from 1982-1987 and served as the Acting Director in 1985. We are thrilled to welcome her back and look forward to her invaluable guidance.
During this time, our diverse search committee, which includes LWC board members, staff, and other key stakeholders, is working to find LWC’s next Executive Director. We anticipate having a permanent leader in place within the next 6 months.
As always, we remain thankful to you, the LWC community. While we have our eyes on the future, we remain ever cognizant that our vision is to create a warm, welcoming, and respectful space for our clients. We are honored that you have entrusted us to provide you with collaborative and empowering health and maternity care and look forward to moving into the future together.
