Black Lives Matter: Lifecycle WomanCare Stands with You

At Lifecycle WomanCare, we mourn the senseless and brutal killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery. Furthermore, we find it reprehensible that these deaths are part of a long history of violence against the Black community.

In our work, we operate with the belief that racism is a PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY that contributes to both maternal and newborn deaths, and disenfranchisement from necessary health care services. We stand in unity with those working to make a change to end systemic racism in this country.

As health care providers, and as a non-profit organization serving the community, we commit to doing our part to confront our own implicit biases and dismantle them. We commit to having the needed conversations that help us grow in understanding of the struggles faced by many of our clients. With greater urgency, we commit to continuing efforts to make all persons feel safe, respected, and listened to whether they come to us for birthing and gynecologic care or serve the community as part of our staff.

On Blackout Tuesday, we muted our social media channels along with many other individuals and organizations. It was an opportunity to pause, to learn, and to support the Black community. However, one day of reflection, learning, and support is not nearly enough.

We encourage you to keep the momentum going; we promise to do the same. There is still much work to be done. Remember, we can’t do everything, but we all need to do SOMETHING. Stay well.
