Birth Story Alert! Today we give you an ode to midwife Jamesina from a three-time Lifecycle WomanCare
Jamesina is my birth muse. When she comes in, the baby comes out!
She was snowed in overnight during the blizzard birth of my son, Massimo, and visited my birth suite where Trina and Sue were attending midwife and nurse.
She was the attending midwife for the birth of my daughter, Sveva, who was born almost entirely without hands-on help. My husband was too nervous to catch Sveva on his own, so Jamesina stepped in to see that she came out in good shape.
She came down to my birth suite after her office hours, to keep me company and keep me sane while Gazelle monitored two other laboring women in adjacent suites, and she stayed to welcome baby Veronica.
I love and appreciate all of the midwives and nurses who cared for me throughout my three pregnancies and labors, but Jamesina was my constant at showtime. All three saw her face before they saw mine, and she will always have a special place in our family’s collective heart.
